nzfw 2015 – slaeve

Another label that was part of the New Generation Show on Tuesday morning was a New Zealand based street wear label SLAEVE. As with other shows today, this label played around with gender – long skirts were worn in this menswear collection. The collection was full of sold colour, and the use of non-traditional sportswear fabrics – denim, velvet, neoprene with lashings of black and grey marle. Traditional silhouettes were thrown on their head with long skirts featuring in this menswear collection. With deceptively simple shapes and volume in all the right places, this collection was a strong first offering from its designer Ezekiel Crawford. Garments were worded with statements – “Think Before You Act” “Only For The Wise And The Wicked” which I understand have an autobiographical element to them.
The final shot is of designer Ezekiel Crawford as he walked the runway.
