The difficult thing about NZFW is sometimes you run out of superlatives at the end of the week. That makes talking about the Salasai show rather problematic as how do I explain how great the show was without repeating myself?  Salasai finished the week off with an installation which showed everything fabulous about them. We have had several fantastic installation this week (including UNDERGROUND and the back of house/front of house feel of Zambesi) which has just added a richness to what has been going on.

In an airy warehouse-like space in Ponsonby Central Salasai showed their elegant, beautiful collection to an extremely appreciative audience. With the models coming in one by one, until the stage was complete with the twelve models (these people so know how to edit). Then one by one they left, leaving us all wanting more – I think that was the point.  With a ‘evocative’ print (Julie Roulston from stuff.co.nz’s description – but it is so perfect I had to use it) in warm caramel and deep browns with shots of sparkles at the throat – the bomber jacket was simply the most perfect one all week. Add the most amazing leather pants, to-die-for knitwear (I always love their knitwear) and you have the slick and sophisticated Liberte et D’Amour w2014 from Salasai.

The perfect styling was by Dan Ahwa, and the key makeup artist was Amber D for M.A.C. with my favourite look of the week. The inspiration was ‘Simple, Smart and Expensive’ which pretty much sums up the entire collection.
