When you are told that there are possibly eight hundred people at an event (and this doesn’t seem surprising) then you know Stolen Girlfriends Club have just shown a new collection. The Red Bull office carpark in Ponsonby was taken over by SGC on Wednesday night, for their new collection Dirty Magic for w2014. With a criss-crossing runway that literally worked the enormous space – meaning that everyone standing a sitting got a good look. Inspired by ancient tarot cards and late gothic art, the collection was full of chiffon tartans, velvet flocked paisley and sheer mesh. It had a 80’s punk feel to things for me with boxy shirts, safety pins and pocket chains. The mens jackets had boxy wide lapels. With bell sleeves on the maxi dresses and the final model coming down in a witches hat – looking as hot and sexy as you would expect an SGC witch to look! The tartan chiffon pants and over skirts where may favourite look from the collection, and I also loved the androgynous pinstriped pants – a very grunge take on suiting…

New Zealand artist Eli Lamont worked with SGC on the intricate paisley print, and the handmade jewellery is by Fernando Penna featuring hundreds of can-tabs connected by safety pins. They also released a woman’s ankle boot with removable thigh high chaps and also SGC hat.

The key story behind SGC’s beauty look, Pagan Punk, was created by James Malloy – M.A.C. Director of Makeup Artistry Asia Pacific. Nails by Leah Light. The show was styled by Zara Mirkin very ably assisted by the exceptionally busy Thistle Brown (who showed at UNDERGROUND earlier in the day) and Paris Kirby (who looked amazing in an incredible fur hat on the night).
