It is still the exciting part of this, discovering something new and delicious. And in this case elegant and chic. Georgia Currie launched her new label ‘Georgia Alice’ at Black Box Boutique in Grey Lynn last night. Called ‘Imperial’ the collection is tightly edited, classic pieces in just black and cream. With the only pattern, a cream Jacquard, the texture was subtle in wools and cottons with leather adding real impact. While speaking with the Lovely Georgia, she talked about her inspiration for the collection being a timeless, elegant woman. Each of the pieces feel like classics already – the cream silk shirt being a perfect case in point and the simple long-sleeved tee in both white and black. It is high-necked and long-sleeved, and also long hemmed – it feels generous in its proportions while still feeling lightly tailored. The jeans, with a high waist, have a more dressed up feel and were worn by Georgia with some fantastic heels. The talk around the room was all about the perfect pencil skirt in leather but for me it was the calf-skin clutch which is so cleverly designed. Large enough to fit either an iPad or a small laptop, it has a wonderful organic edge that fastens with two studs. The clutch can be used opened out, or rolled over so it fits neatly under your arm. I had comments about all day today, and this is the first day I have owned it! At a very easy $149, it is a simple step to owning a piece of Georgia Alice that will one day be selling for a lot more I would imagine… Get in while you can with stockists also in Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown.

So awesome to see a young person start a new label!

She really seems to have her head screwed on straight, and has a really classic feel to what she is doing. I was really impressed!
