pia boutique – neon bloom

There is simply no question that colour makes us happy.  Really, joyfully happy. And everything that Pia Naera touches with her joyful, bright kaleidoscope designs makes you want to smile from ear to ear. With just the tiniest addition of black (in the black and white Aztec top with a massive splash of neon orange) in the collection, the rest is just a riot of pinks and purples of Aztec inspired shapes and oversized blooms. With all of the designs looking pretty and entirely feminine (much like Pia herself), they also have a simply ease about them – making them the perfect sort of thing that can just throw on in the summer with bare legs and a pair of heels.  The design of the pieces is simple enough, which lets the fabric do the talking.  It is interesting to note that Pia started off as a graphic designer, designing the fabrics first.  She could have just designed the fabrics but instead decided to try her hand at making a dress to showcase the fabric. With a humble price tag, many of the dresses retail around the $130 mark, this is a gentle (and clever) move into designer clothing.  You can find her on-line at piaboutique.com

We first saw her his year at Miromoda (NZFW 2012), and she was a definite standout for us when we covered the show. She uses colour with such confidence, and this is no easy skill.  We are hoping for great things from this young designer!
