nzfw 2012 – charlie brown
The only label showing this week from Australia, Charlie Brown, made sure it was done entirely on her terms. With a collection called Naughty & Nice which is indicative of the Charlie Brown Woman who is “a glamorous woman with a fierce streak that speaks back to the allure of a femme fatale.” With three distinct themes running, Military Luxe – with army inspired coats, paired with sequined leggings (I loved the black ones of course) winter whites and even leather. The leather we have seen through several collections this week. This was followed by Indochine Opium Den with chinoise prints in red, leopard prints and velvets. The 1920’s inspired dresses where quite beautiful and I could imagine these could easily be used in a sophisticated wedding setting. The last theme Gala Finale saw long floor length gowns in chiffon. There was a near disastrous fall of one of the models who struggled in her towering high heels. She slipped just near the end of the catwalk and our Mayor Len Brown jumped up to help her. She then slipped off her shoes, waved to the crowd and walked off. The last dress out was Aja Rock in a peplum-ed red sequin dress who was joined by American-born Charlie Brown herself. The make up was by Smashbox and we loved the bright red Infared Matt Lipstick.
