nzfw 2012 – ingrid starnes

The second part of Blue Sky was the wonderfully talented Ingrid Starnes.  Her Hunt’s End quite literally envisions what happens at an English Country estate on a hunting weekend.  It imagines a cast of eccentrics like Judy Garland and Princess Margaret in their prime, and all of them dressed to the nines.  With brilliant pops of acid yellow mixed with tweeds and forest greens.  With wonderfully feminine dresses in rosy burgundy, and slim legged pleated pants in tweeds showing Starnes’ particular tailoring talent, it was all beautifully put together.  The knitwear was quite gorgeous with 50’s inspired cardigans – and with a clover detailing on the shoulder. With pops of tangerine dresses and belts, soft prints, ribbon detailing – it felt like a large collection that all fit together perfectly. Again the cohesiveness of the collection was spot on, and the soundtrack, just brilliant.  With Blur, Morrissey, The Veils and New Order – it all had a distinctly English flavor to it. Pretty perfection…especially that floor length chiffon gown at the end…
