nzfw 2012 – cooper & trelise cooper

Trelise Cooper never does things by halves. It’s never ‘just a few sequins’, or in this case ‘just a few lights’.  There were twinkling lights everywhere from the original invitation that lit up when you opened it, though to the goody bags that sparkled in the half-light as people walked in to the crowded Westpac Hall, and then to the finale when the dresses themselves were lit from within. Her COOPER label came out first with a backdrop of gold foil helium balloons. All the vintage Trelise tells were on show of course, pants over dresses, bold patterns (we loved the floral bomber jacket) as well as plaids and wools.

Her signature Trelise Cooper range came out next with a more subdued palette through huge art nouveaux gates – and more fairy lights.  With lots of black and white, basic black then onto beautiful golds and orange. Then came the finale of dresses lit from within.  Everyone, including one of the models in particular, loved it.  Vintage Trelise it most certainly was!
